Ballotbox.ie was an idea that was born in Toronto, Canada at the start of February 2011.
Brian Reynolds, founder, started his working life at Newstalk 106 in 2002 where be began as researcher on George Hook’s fledgling drivetime show where he soon became producer. Four years later when Newstalk went from local to national station, he became producer of the Breakfast Show, where he remained until 2009, when Canada came calling. He currently earns his dollars in TV production, having previously worked at Thomson Reuters.
John Byrne began his media career in Trinity College, Dublin where he edited the university satire magazine, Pirhanha! Things went rapidly downhill after that. He went on to found and edit satirical magazine The Slate, worked as a reporter and later news editor at Vincent Browne’s Village magazine, and then became a producer at Newstalk radio’s Breakfast Show. He now lives in Toronto, Canada and is attempting to scrape a living in television.
Joe McCarthy has been dabbling in computing since 1970. Following a career in IBM he set up his own independent consultancy Arkaon Limited in 1995. He has built many nationwide networks, designed databases and run projects. He is also a keen tallyman having run a tally at every Irish election count since 1987.
The PR-STV counting software was written by Joe McCarthy and Jennifer Jennings.
The backend database was built by Joe McCarthy and Valerie Jennings.
The Ballotbox.ie website was built by Usna Tunney, Turlough Rynne and Dom Muldoon from Point Blank.
We have no political affiliations and this project is self funded and run entirely by volunteers.
